Rules and Information
Team Donation:
All rules are subject to change.
- The registration fee for all teams is $500. Teams are encouraged to fundraise to meet this goal and will get help along the way from SWB (crowdfunding page set up, fundraising toolkit and more). Plus, there's a prize for the team that fundraises the most for SWB!
- Teams who do not meet the fundraising minimum by the morning of the tournament (October 6, 2018) must make up the difference at check-in or they will not be permitted to play.
- 5 players on the field at all times, including two females.
- Roster limits: 5 minimum and 10 maximum players per team.
- There are no goalies, but also no rules against leaving someone back, they just can't use their hands.
- Soccer Score: Teams will be awarded 3 points for a win, 1 for a tie and 0 for a loss.
- Sportsmanship Score: Players are expected to act in the nature of good sportsmanship at all times. All games will be played in the spirit of SWB, using “fair play points” in addition to goals to determine the result of a game. Following each game, both teams will circle up and award the other team fair play points on a scale of 1-3, with 1 indicating poor sportsmanship and 3 indicating good sportsmanship. Fair play points will be counted as the same as a goal, so on-field attitude conduct is important! Consider language, attitude, respect, treatment of opponents/teammates/referees, and overall positivity when awarding fair play points.
- All teams are guaranteed a minimum of four games.
- Final tournament structure will depend on the number of teams that sign up.
- Bracket play games will be 23 minutes without a halftime.
- Playoff round games will be 18 minutes without a halftime.
- If playoff games are tied at the end of regulation, there will be a 5 minute golden goal period followed by a penalty shootout (best of 3, must be at least one woman, followed by single knockout).
- No goals from the defensive half of the field.
- Corner kicks and throw-ins will be played.
- No off sides.
- Substitutions can happen on the fly, so as they do not disrupt the play and the team gains no "extra person advantage" during the switch (referee's discretion).
- No player can switch teams during the tournament.
- Penalty kicks taken from 8 yards out. Defensive team can put someone in goal, but they can't use their hands.
- Shin guards are required.
- Team shirts are included with entry fee and to be worn as uniforms during the games.
